I realised that today it will be one week we spent in Deception Island. Time flies and I don't have much time to write what happens in here. Every mmorning musci wakes the base up and then we have breakfast (Iberic Jamon is always invited and it is great to start the day eating great food! - I should stop writting about food).
Then we go to the sea and the sites of interest in the caldeira. While Philippe, Conxita and Carlos dive, I wait on the Zodiac and make the security, I have to check if seals or sea lions are approaching. I am always with two militaries of the base (one who drive the Zodiac and another for the radio contact). Usually there t's windy and rainy and cold so we all are frozen but it is great to be in the middle of nowhere. You feel like you are nothing on Earth, so small. After the dive, we usually have a lot of organisms to "take care of" (=dissection and understanding their acid-base physiology). We work together in the wet lab, it's really hard because it's cold and we usually have our hands in water... We usually work until late and people in the base think we are crazy ^^
